Long-term plans: Every month, take time to review your business. Examine the possibility of growth and adding up more ideas to help your work at home business thrive and grow. Since the market is continually evolving, you have to evolve with it as well. This is also your opportunity to assess where your business is headed to and what you can do to improve it further.
Once you are ready to get things off the ground, your best asset will be your own self-discipline. When you work at home, distractions abound. A three hour lunch always sounds nice and errands can become very convenient distractions if you are not careful. You have to remember – even though you are your own supervisor – you still have to be diligent about your work. You will only hurt your own bottom line if you let things slide for too long.
4) Your paycheck is money that you earn, not just money you were promised a while ago. When you write your own paychecks you can give yourself a raise. Imagine saying “I have been working really hard so I deserve a pay raise” and then making it happen.
Where do you keep these cheat sheets? Well, you can keep them just about anywhere. You can put them into Word or you can put them into an Excel spreadsheet. There are even some software programs out there, called mind mapping software, that you can get to handle it. Now, the example I gave you above is a simple one. But what if your task is designing a web site? There is a lot of work involved in such a project and the last thing you want to do is leave any of it to your memory.
You see, a business creates a job for one basic reason: they need that spot filled to make the business more money.period! Businesses don’t hire you just because you’re unemployed, have sick family members and need to work to support them, or because you’ve graduated from college. Again, a business hires a person because that person’s employment leads to the company making more money.
Take a look at your own behavior because people who are getting the results you are striving for are not offended. Let me use a very strong example. People who lie, cheat, or steal will get offended when people talk about lying, cheating or stealing, how dare someone talk to them like that!
3) Choose your own hours. Work at a time that makes sense to you and there is actually work that has to be done, not just because of what a boss says. Imagine a work environment where you can go to work, knock out your day’s workload, and leave once you are done! How many hours do you spend at your job trying to look busy? Deliberately dragging out projects so you won’t get bored in the downtime and your boss thinks you are working hard? What a ridiculous way to live but try telling your boss that you are finished with all your work load so you’d like to take a half day off to go to the beach.What would happen if you did this every day?
